Apply for Visa to Visit Canada

Wanting to Apply for Visa to Visit Canada? It’s Easier than Ever!

Inside: If you are wanting to apply for visa to Canada to visit, there are 3 requirements that will make it easier.

Forget the hassle of applying for a regular visitor visa.

Application is now faster and cheaper!

But, you have to meet the 3 requirements, as follows.

First, Filipinos ( and other applicants from countries with visa requirement ),  who want to travel to Canada to visit and have already been issued a visa before or in the last ten years, may skip a visa application, according to  Canada Immigration.

But they still have to apply online for what is called electronic travel authorization (eTA). This will be a digital travel document. It is fast, the application can be processed in minutes (can be up to 72 hours if documents need to be submitted) and costs $7.00 Canadian dollars only, ( P 275.00- 300.00 pesos depending on the exchange rate ), much lower than regular tourist visa application which is $100.00 or more.

Also qualified to apply for this electronic travel authorization are those who have a valid a non-immigrant visa card to the U.S.

The Canadian government sees those individuals issued before with visitor visa to Canada and a valid US non-immigrant  visa,  as posing low risks.

Only the Philippines and Thailand in Southeast Asia were given this expanded service by CIC Citizenship and Immigration Canada, along with other 12 countries, which include :

  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Argentina
  • Brazil
  • Costa Rica
  • Morocco
  • Panama
  • St. Kitts and Nevis
  • St. Lucia
  • St. Vincent and the Grenadines
  • Seychelles
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • Uruguay

For the second requirement, you should travel by air,  not by land or cruise ship. This is perceived to pose lower risks to safety and security of Canada’s borders and inside the country compared to traveling by land (long driving, or by commercial bus or train) and by ship.

The third requirement is that you are coming for a short visit only to tour or to do business, usually up to 6 months.

If this is your first time applying for a visitor visa, however, you will have to go through the regular route of applying to visit Canada.

Our group, the Canada Bound Coaching, can advise you to try the eTA online and expect that your travel authorization or visa may not be processed in a few minutes as what’s indicated in the recent news.

As a first-time applicant, you may have to wait from 72 hours or about 3 days from date of applying online, or longer than that. The fee of only C$7.00 also does not apply to you as first-time visitor visa applicant.
