Canada Expands Express Entry for Skilled Workers ( Carpenters, Plumbers, Welders, etc )

Inside: Skilled worker jobs are needed more in Canada. Find out which trade occupations are selected for Express entry application.

This will allow selected people to become permanent residents based on their skills and work experiences, according to Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Canada’s Express Entry system has now been expanded to help provide an efficient pathway for people who have expertise in critical fields.

To be eligible for the trade occupations category, you need to:

  • have accumulated, within the past three years, at least six months of full-time, continuous work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience)
    • in a single occupation included in the category
    • in Canada or abroad
  • meet all of the requirements for that round

Those occupations are:

  1. residential and commercial installers and servicers
  2. elevator constructors and mechanics
  3. machine fitters
  4. heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning mechanics
  5. construction millwrights
  6. industrial mechanics

Also included are:

  1. Carpenters
  2. Plumbers
  3. Electricians
  4. Welders and related machine operators
  5. Contractors and Supervisors
  6. Other construction trades, installers, repairers, and servicers

      Yes, there will be more competition among the skilled workers and processing times might be impacted, but since they will be applying to the express entry platform, it will still be faster than the non-express entry applications.

      For sure, these skilled workers who want to come to Canada to migrate are given the chance to have their dreams fulfilled sooner.

      With regards to a timely and efficient evaluation process, Canada Immigration is always improving on this, too.
